The Durban Filmmakers Guild represents, protects and empower filmmakers in and around the greater Durban area.

The Durban Filmmakers Guild was formed by filmmakers to enable a sustainable industry providing employment prospects for members which, includes all media, such as film, television, documentaries, news, sports, commercials, animation, new media and actors thereby creating and sustaining a skilled workforce and becoming a natural destination for filmmakers. To further serve as an industry lobby in defence of the establishment of fair and equitable relationships with trade and funding.

To protect practitioners and advance their rights, particularly their economic and intellectual property rights, and collectively negotiate on behalf of members.

To promote Durban filmmakers and their work locally and internationally by developing distribution and exhibition platforms for their work in all media.
